When new intel comes through about a Hydra weapon, the avengers split into two teams, one checking out a new base, while the other scours an old one. It's no coincidence that the intel comes through, and they find files about experiments done to one person. 'winter 2.0' the team calls her, but to Bucky, the fear sinks in as memories resurface about one soldier in particular, Ace. Stronger, deadlier and she made the winter soldier in him afraid. The work together to find out all they can, not realising that they are being watched by the very soldier herself. After an attack on the compound, which leaves quite a few of the team shaken, one avengr in particular is intrigued by the univited guest now residing in the holding cells. Who is the masked assailant, and why is it, she listened to him? **** The soldier begins to remember her past, fighting against all the Hydra conditioning, to remember who she was. Why does one of the men stand out? Who is he, and why does she have an overwhelming need to protect him? She knows Hydra will stop at nothing to get their soldiers back, but will she submit to Hydra or fight for right to live free? With lives on the line, sacrifices will be made, but who will live and who will die? ⚠️ Trigger warning ⚠️ Will contain swearing, adult themes, torture, abuse, smut, violence and depression. The cold water dripped inside on my cell, as the droplets hit my bare back, I could only shudder from the feel. I knew he would be back any given minute. He had another PR meeting with his team, Captain America, what a joke. If only they really knew who he was. A monster that Hydra cooked up. I could hear the other man groaning, they had started pumping him with more super soldier serum to keep him alive, but his body was rejecting it. Whenever I was able to, I would sneak off to the corner of my cell and talk to him, he would never respond, but I had a feeling it comforted him knowing I was here for him. Like I had a choice. Where could I go? I couldn't remember who I was, not strong enough to fight off Steve, or smart enough to get myself out. I heard the heavy door to my cell room creak open, heavy footsteps walked in, stopping right in front of me. "Wow, I had a really long day! All I need to do is unwind with my little Sarah."
