Beth Mars, an adopted 18-year old girl, is a part of a family cursed by Death. One day while at a family BBQ, Beth faces a difficult decision when Zephyr comes to bring one of her loved ones to the other side. After she makes her decision to mark her beloved friend, Darren Waters, she quickly prevents Zephyr from collecting Darren's soul. This leaves Darren cursed by Death as well...
