After Viola Mavolini is attacked by three masked boys with the ability to flash-melt her treasured throwing knives, she immediately begins plans to steal back her dead mother’s sapphire necklace, ripped from her neck during the struggle. Left sitting in a rainstorm on the dirty streets of Washington D.C., little does she know that a certain boy named Anton Grey has already saved her once from the Scorchers intent on taking her life.

What’s more, he’s a Scorcher too.

After finding him skulking around her house in the middle of the night, Viola learns he’s not like her earlier attackers at all. In fact, he’s willing to help her track them down and reclaim the necklace. But when an ambush on the highway leaves Viola wounded and leads to the kidnap of her closest friend, Anton is forced to reveal a secret so devastating, the chain reaction might just kill them both.

BLACK, WHITE, AND GREY is a high-concept fantasy novel full of humor, action, and unexpected plot twists that starts off in an urban setting and ends up somewhere far, far away. Featuring a unique blend of dystopia/utopia and high-fantasy themes, certain aspects of the plot are comparable to the SKULDUGGERY PLEASANT and ARTEMIS FOWL books, however, a darker edge prevails which will appeal to older teen readers as well as the younger set.
