Mission Accomplished

This is a Vietnam narrative that I had to write for school and I sort of took the topic and ran so... this is the end result. It was supposed to be you choose a military tactic and write about what you think it would be like from someones point of view. The one I picked was a military tactic that was called a Search and Destroy mission. This tactic is exactly what it sounds like, and they did this to the villages near to the army base and killed innocent people for reasons I don't quite remember. But I do know that it was unprovoked and most likely to prevent Vietnamese soldiers from having a place to stay and get food, that and to also lessen their moral and generally piss them the fuck off. Now, hear me out, I don't know specifics so if you want to know more ask your history teacher or look up Vietnam search and destroy missions, but obviously these guys were drafted to the war so they most likely weren't there willingly to start with. Then to top it off some of them are getting these orders from someone who is either making up these planes or are either getting these orders from someone from even higher up who is just seeing these innocent people as battle strategies and minor casualties. Then the soldiers have to carry out these orders and kill people, now that is pretty terrible and probably really hard to stomach for these guys, which also must really mess with your head. So I thought of that and wrote it from that perspective. I will not pretend to know what war is like, and claim everything in here to be realistic. However, I will say that I personally think that for someone who has never been to war or known anyone who has been to war, that at least I tried, and don't shoot me if I am completely wrong.
