"I will not speak. I will not resist. I will not fail."
The three capital rules, the three commandments Vincent Feldman must follow, or forfeit his life.
At 16, Vincent Feldman is just another average junior in the Michigan public school system. Born into a dysfunctional family, tasked with the responsibility of raising his younger sister, Jacqueline, as their older brothers work to keep their family afloat, things are consistent. Normal.
But as Vince is sent to Mortbury Academy, flung into the dark underbelly of a world he's never known and told to survive by any means necessary, his life is turned on its head as he's given three rules he must never break.
He will not speak. He will not speak to anyone about anything that goes on within the academy. But he figures he'll speak with his actions, and use them as substitutions for words, as he makes allies, enemies, and the beginnings of his ultimate escape plan.
Because actions speak louder than words, right?
So he'll make sure to scream for freedom.
"Mom! I told you not to bother m- " she was cut off by her own coughs.
"You're drunk again?" Her mother sighed before asking it.
"Not like you care mo-" this time a crash cut her off.
The car crash didn't let Kristine complete her sentence.
"Your hospital charges as well as all other necessities will be fulfilled but, in return you've gotta do what I want."
Someone who brought her to the hospital and saved her life smirked before speaking with his intensely deep voice.
What does he want?
