It was beautiful. They were beautiful. Glistening skin, startling eyes, shimmering tails.
I felt my life beginning to slip from my grasp, fire in my lungs as they begged for air.
No one could have told me that the very unraveling of my own existence could be so... peaceful. My eyes shut and I involuntarily inhaled, readily embracing my fate.
Air filled my lungs and my eyes snapped open, meeting the familiar walls of my bedroom.
I would have thought it to be a dream, had there not been a dull ache in my lungs and salt water soaking me to my very core.
