If Effy met you the first thing she would tell you is that she doesn't like Jim. Well not that she doesn't NOT like him. But more as her friend, and of course, no nothing more than that. She would change the topic while you would roll your eyes in a way that means you know better. She would start talking about how isn't it strange that Lester Falls (Jim's older brother who is an actor) has decided to come to the school? She would argue that it is a bit weird that hasn't he told anybody why. You would grudgingly agree but only to shut her up. Pearl (Effy's best friend) would then start a conversation about how great Lester is. You would then ask her how is Harley (Pearl's boyfriend) going? And she would say fine shortly and change the subject.
