It is a servant's job to stay quiet.

It is a servant's job not to ask questions.

It is a servant's job to be unnoticed.

It is a servant's job to obey.

It is not a servant's job to give input.

It is not a servant's job to contradict.

It is not a servant's job to draw attention.

It is not a servant's job to refuse.

He did the latter.

Based off of the BBC show Merlin. (watch it on Netflix)
This covers all five seasons. It just might take me a while to get there, so I would suggest finishing before reading this.

Power of the Storm

44 parts Complete

Hunith never meant to favor her son over her daughter, and her daughter knew this, she understood sometimes she wished she had never been born. Not that she had ever voiced her thoughts to her mother or brother. She usually kept to herself, away from everyone, Merlin felt they were close and she was fine with that. When she is sent to Camelot at sixteen, two years later Merlin arrives and seems to have a knack for getting her and himself into trouble. {Merlin Season One}
