In the town of Berahampur, you were killed if you are against the Masters. There are three kind of people living in this town, Masters, Slaves and Ruled; where the air whispers of gunpowder and smoke. Here freedom is caged and rules are made by the Masters of the town. If anyone who rules over people and hearts after the Master, it was their very own Ghulaam ̶ Rangeela. Rangeela, the man who breathes for his master. For him, his Master has a higher position than that of God himself. His soul was free, yet he was bound by loyalty and slavery. When the free soul burns her mark on him, calling herself Radhika who openly challenges the customs, rules, and rule of the Masters and Rangeela himself in the town of Berahampur, in spite of knowing that reneging meant death ̶ Rangeela's whole life tilts on an axis, evoking feelings he never thought existed; giving new meaning to life. She is fire, and she would burn everything on her way. Rangeela has the choice to either be the Phoenix, to burn himself and be reborn or burn in her fire to become ashes. "I'm here to live. I am fire. You'll see me everywhere." - She says in a town, where woman meant nothing more a commodity, to do household work and give birth. A forbidden love. A dangerous secret. A leap toward freedom. Ravpreet "Raavi" Kaur, a high school senior in Long Island, lives under the shadow of her family's rigid expectations and explosive temper. In her traditional Sikh household, honor is everything, and even speaking to a boy could get her locked away-or worse. Quiet, intelligent, and deeply lonely, Raavi has learned to keep her dreams small and her voice even smaller. Until she meets Dharam Singh. At 21, Dharam is everything her parents would despise. He cut his hair years ago, walks his own path, and runs a small but successful mobile detailing business with his older brother, Himmat, in Queens. But when he meets Raavi at a mutual friend's wedding, the connection is instant-and undeniable. He sees her fire buried beneath fear, and she sees the life she's never been allowed to imagine. What begins as late-night texts and secret glances turns into stolen moments and whispered promises. As their love deepens, so does the danger. Raavi's father begins watching her every move, her mother grows colder, and the threat of violence hangs in the air. Knowing her life will never be hers unless she takes it, Raavi makes the most terrifying choice of her life. On the night she turns eighteen, she runs-straight into Dharam's arms. Together, they start a new chapter in a tiny apartment in Queens with Dharam's older brother. It's not easy. They're young, on their own, and haunted by the past. But for the first time, Raavi is free. Free to love. Free to dream. Free to be herself.
