After the war things are never the same between Katniss and Peeta, he is not the same. Katniss forgives Gale for the bombings knowing that he would never intend to kill Prim after years of looking out for her. After losing hope of Peeta ever returning to her the way he was, Katniss falls back in love with Gale, her best friend and hunting partner, and is reminded of her life before the Games, where she was happy and free. She tries to fix herself, the broken girl on fire, but can she ever erase her scars and learn to love Gale the same way she used to do?

Everyday guilt eats away at him. guilt of the people he couldn't save. Of people he thinks he killed. Guilt of precious friendships he's broken. He's run away from his past, which is the only thing that keeps him going. But one day it comes and knocks on his door and he's forced to redeem it as much as he can. this is the story of his downward spiral, redemption and attempts to fix his mistakes. AUTHOR'S NOTE: pretty much all of this story is from Gale's perspective. and it doesn't have a Gale x Katniss relationship, just friendship. I think that the end of Gale's story was unfulfilling. Also, my version of Gale in this book is depressed and kinda has ptsd. and lastly it gets pretty dark so you've been warned.

Hijacked (An Everlark Fanfic) (Plot twist/After Mockingjay story) de effiesbutt

This story is based off a mini plot twist, but otherwise this is just an After Mockingjay story. The plot twist is basically that Katniss didn't kiss Peeta when they were in the Capitol during the Rebellion, and how it would effect Peeta's recovering, since that is obviously taking it a step back. --- Katniss is broken, tortured, and she has lost almost everyone she ever took a second to care about. Almost. Peeta is still alive, but also still hijacked. Will Katniss find a way to cure Peeta, and get him to come back to her? And how does their future, after the Rebellion, look? (The first 16 chapters has been re-written, because I accidentally deleted the story oops)

There are also head canons in this because of another character. Most important, this is a lesbian based fan fiction. I am not claiming Katniss's sexuality whatsoever, in fact, in the story, it is obvious that the insert character's love is completely one sided. This story can take on some adult themes and language, like the original trilogy does, so please be aware of that. Haymitch is a grandfather because he married Katniss's mom after all they went through. Katniss and Peeta's kids are very different. Diana is like Katniss and has her skills with a bow and arrow and hunting. She has her father's talent with a sword, painting, and baking. Finnick on the other hand is like his aunt Prim and grandmother. He likes to take care of people. The story starts with Diana as a seventeen-year-old on the day of the reaping of the 99th hunger games. The Mellarks have a track record for being in love with their district partner. Will it happen again with one of their kids. Also Katniss, Peeta and Haymitch don't have to be mentors. I don't own the characters of the original hunger games. I give the credit of their characters to Suzanne Collins.

However, though the world is changed, it will never truly be safe. ➳➳➳ The years following the war. Post canon, basically what leads to the epilogue. CW: Mild sexual content, violence, death, pregnancy, panic attacks PSA, there will be canon divergence, and the later books will get pretty dark. Also, I wrote this when I was thirteen or fourteen, so even though it's edited, it might not be good.
