PROLOGUE (or is it epilogue to the silence?)
This book is about the life of a regular girl who has decided that it was high time that the youth reach out and touch the younger ones. Imagine a world where instead of vague advice, the little ones can look at strong and successful women and realize that they too were young and confused. Imagine a world where growing up no longer becomes a battle but a process. I do not expect to take the hurt and pain out of growing up but I expect this book to produce people who can lean on each other.
With love, your big sis, is a book of compassion from one sister to another. Past experiences are not humiliating, they’re maps. The Devil isn’t as creative as we think. He reinvents the same problems for the youth but confuses us by dividing us. He also uses emotions such as embarrassment to cripple us. With each coming generation, the bridge between it and the preceding generation is broken down by the difference in entertainment and technology. This difference creates an invisible wall between parents and children or youth leaders and the youth.
If the youth learn to narrate their own experiences instead of shying away and being embarrassed maybe the young ones will carry the torch and light the world for generations to come. This book might not change the world but it will, hopefully, touch the lives of girls all over. Read with your children or little sisters but please don’t make them feel like mistakes are bad, they’re only bad if we let them tie us down.
