Maddie is a sixteen -year-old girl who just move Australia who find herselve stranded on the mysterious Mako Island. She eventually find herselve in a pool under a dormant volcano just as a full moon passes overhead, bathing the pool in light.

Madeleine Hawkins is a sweet, young girl with an unfortunate disease known as Aquagenic Urticaria, or more commonly known as being allergic to water.
