While they had originally fallen in love, Catherine can't tell if any of the actions or words of affirmation have been real. And with him being in on the protest she started against his establishment, she's feeling like she's been betrayed. Four months later, the Academy is opening back up, and Catherine is as numb and emotional as she's ever been. She feels eager to go back to continue her protest and see her friends, but she's also scared to go back and face the Prince who she still has overwhelming feelings towards.
