A would-be vacation takes a sudden turn in the kidnap-capital of the Philippines for Kit and her brother, Wesley. Taken in by a losing group in the criminal underworld, they end up having to teach their 'kidnappers' how to deal with a rival gang known only as the Elites. Kit and Wesley agree to challenge the mysterious gang leader known only by the alias "Karl Rawqer" to show himself. And with their uncle, the creator of a revolutionary device, missing from the scene, the Steeles find themselves in a game of wits against Davao's smartest group of thieves.
Following a plan to take credit away from the Elites for their disappearance, Marguerite and Wesley soon realize that the Elites' influence goes beyond just the criminal world....
