There was something quite magnificent about him. He looked within me, even though he could not see me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Savanah Newman is a high school exchange student who has left her less than perfect life in England to live with a wealthy family for a year. The only problem being the less than perfect boy next door with a head of chestnut hair, dark sunglasses and an even darker attitude.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Shut up," he was standing now, "don't act like you know what it's like to lose everything, to constantly be surrounded by darkness, to know you will never see your family again."

"You think you're the only one who has lost something. You aren't the only person who feels pain, Nathan. How could you be so selfish?" I was standing too now.

He hung his head and murmured, "It's easy to only think of yourself when you are alone in the world."

"You aren't alone," I took a step closer and placed my hand on his chest, "you will always have me." As our lips touched, in that moment I was worried I was making a promise I couldn't keep.

She looks up at me, taking a step forward and smiling slightly, "How can I ever get hurt when I have you here to protect me?" "But you could have gotten hurt," I murmur softly, hanging my head and feeling my shoulders drop, the tension seeping from my body. "No. Stop," She cuts me off sternly but tenderly, "Don't talk like that, Reece. I'm okay, you're okay, we're okay," She speaks softly, reaching her hand up to gently brush her thumb over my cheek, just under the cut that's there. "We're okay," I repeat, taking a small step closer to her. She nods with a small smile, moving her hand down from my cheek and instead placing the palm of her hand on my chest, right over my heart. I know she can feel how fast my heart is beating. I just don't know why it's doing that. ~ Reece Carter is the bad boy of Northwood High. He smokes and he fights. He asked softly, his thumbs wiping away the wetness from my cheeks. "No." I choked out. "Don't! I don't want to say it." "You said...Hi, my name is Alexis and I just moved into my grandparent's house across the street. Can I play with you? And I knew the moment I laid eyes on you...." "You were 10 years old, you didn't know shit." I croaked. "I may have been 10, but I knew a beautiful girl when I saw one. And you blew the rest of the world out of the water. I may have saved you by leaving you in Tennessee, but at least you still had your grandparents. I had no one if I didn't have you."
