In the kingdom of Taciturnitas, nearly a decade ago was a revolt that resulted in a blood filled massacre. Now, the young king Cyrus rules in the wake of his father's murder and the kingdom has taken on a lighter and warmer presence. But, for one young girl, it is still a dark and deceiving place. Lark has been plagued by the actions of her father and what he did all those years ago, and because of this, she has been shunned by those who she is supposed to call friends. Despite this, Lark still trains to be a part of Cyrus's elite guard, in the hopes to prove those around her that she is nothing like her father. But, history may be repeating itself as people start dying around her and Lark must figure out who is responsible before they kill Cyrus.
