What if Mulan had an older brother?
Fa Jian was the eldest child of the honourable Fa family, but he never really took his role in the family seriously. If there was one thing he loved more than anything in the world, it would be his sister Mulan. When the Huns invaded China, the Fa's were shocked that Fa Zhou was called onto the battlefield, when only one male was usually necessary. The emperor's counsel was signing his death sentence, Jian vowed.
Mulan takes her father's place, and Jian honestly enjoys training his 'little brother' Ping, immensely. But how long could they keep on this secret, especially when Jian realises that their captain feels something for Ping.

Wei Ying was thrown into the burial mounds by Wen Chao, he found Went Ning and together they managed to survive. When he got out, the war at nightless city was still going on, but with Wei Ying they managed to defeat the Wen's but ended up being exhausted at the end of the fight. Lan Zhan got worried over him because of the amount of resentful energy that Wei Ying held and ultimately decided to take him to cloud recesses. Wei Ying grew inseparable from Lan Zhan and always got tense when he was alone, he only felt safe around Lan Zhan, and it confused him because he had two amazing siblings and Lan Xichen was also extremely kind and on some level he did also feel safe with them but he never felt fully safe until he was with Lan Zhan. Lan Zhan on the other hand always tried his best to make Wei Ying feel safe and talk to him about how he was feeling, which always seemed to help the younger. The two had gotten to a point where they would spend every day and night together, becoming inseparable from each other, and that's when they both realized that they had feelings for each other. Editing in Progress Excerpt: As Shang watched, a small dark head shot out of the water downstream of the searching men but not quite as far downstream as the horse. Relief shot through Shang. Then the horse screamed in panic and Shang saw Ping turn in the water and take off after the horse. The boy would reach the frantic animal before anyone else! With a curse, he took off down the shoreline. He watched helplessly as Ping reached the horse and began to cut the creature free of its confines with a knife he had somehow managed to hang on to in the river. He saw when the horse finally came free, reared up in the water and then came back down...directly on top of Ping! With an inarticulate shout of fear, Shang threw himself into the river and swam out to where he had seen Ping disappear under the horse. The other men had caught up, then, and were working to calm the frantic animal and get it to shallower, calmer waters. The wagon and all the supplies it carried were lost to the river. Shang dove beneath the surface and began to search frantically in the dark, churning water for any sign of Ping.
