What if Mulan had an older brother? Fa Jian was the eldest child of the honourable Fa family, but he never really took his role in the family seriously. If there was one thing he loved more than anything in the world, it would be his sister Mulan. When the Huns invaded China, the Fa's were shocked that Fa Zhou was called onto the battlefield, when only one male was usually necessary. The emperor's counsel was signing his death sentence, Jian vowed. Mulan takes her father's place, and Jian honestly enjoys training his 'little brother' Ping, immensely. But how long could they keep on this secret, especially when Jian realises that their captain feels something for Ping.

Fa Jian loves two things in this world more than anything: his honorable family and his beloved sister, Mulan. As the eldest son, he was always expected to carry the family's legacy, a responsibility he never took seriously. But when the Huns invade, the Emperor's counsel calls his aging father, Fa Zhou, to battle. Though only one male is required from each family, Jian knows his father has been given a death sentence. When his courageous sister, Mulan, takes their father's place, Jian disguises himself as a recruit and joins her to protect her and their family's honor. He relishes the chance to train his "little brother," Ping, and keep Mulan safe from harm. But keeping Mulan's secret becomes complicated when their charismatic captain, Shang, takes an interest in Ping. Jian must now navigate the battlefield and newfound feelings while keeping Mulan's secret safe at all costs. This story, Mulan: Jian of the Dragon, is a reimagining of the 1998 Disney animated film, Mulan. While it follows the general plot and key events of the movie, it's primarily an expansion of the narrative from the perspective of Mulan's older brother, Fa Jian, a character created specifically for this story.
