Dakota Meyers is a 13 year old girl who has ataxia, a type of Cerebral Palsy. she has two younger sisters, Logan (7) and Hunter (5).

She is starting to slip with her therapy sessions, and is hardly ever out of the house. But then her mother, who is the narrator, finds an ad for sledge hockey in the grocery store.
