It was just the two of us, lying under the starry night sky.
The rhythm of her breathing and rapid beating of my heart intertwined, like a perfect fit for each other. I sucked in a sharp breath as I stole a glance at the girl next to me, the moonlight dimly illuminating her face.
My hand slowly inched closer to hers.
She kept her gaze focused on the thousands of twinkling dots in the sky, unaware of our closeness. My eyes trailed over her delicate - and perfect - features. A second passed.
Then, I sighed inaudibly, and turned my head back to the stars, separating my hand from hers.
After all, the girl I'd fallen for had her heart captured by someone else - someone better.
