Elizabeta, the wife of the Hungarian King, Lajos, is queen in name only. The real queen remains Elzbieta, the king's mother.
In 1353, 14-year-old, Elizabeta, daughter of Stephen Kotromanic, the Ruler of Bosnia is married to King Lajos of Hungary after he lost his first wife to the Plague. But the king's mother, Elzbieta doesn't view this match favorably, and wishes her son would have found a bride with more important connections. Also, not ready to give up her position as the most powerful and influential woman in the kingdom, Elzbieta keeps Elizabeta in the shade. But Elizabeta wants to go down in history as more than just another queen-consort. She wants to be remembered as a powerful queen, like her mother-in-law. Elizabeta's strong determination will eventually earn her the love of Lajos, as she develops into a capable Queen to match the all-powerful Elzbieta.
This is the second book in a four-part series about the Angevin Queens of Hungary and Poland in the fourteenth century.
