Sixteen-year-old Lucia Hernandez may have freaky psychic gifts such as being able to look into the past, but that doesn't help much when monsters straight out of a horror movie follow her and her mom wherever they go. Then her mom abandons her, sending her to live with her estranged Grandparents on Long Island and telling her to find someone called the Long Island Magician. And even though he claims he'll help her, Lucia becomes increasingly suspicious that he's not as interested in saving her from the monsters as he is in sacrificing her to them. As Lucia tries desperately to use her gift to search through the past and decide who to trust, she finds herself forming unexpected connections with Caelum's best friends. There's Brandy, the artist, who hides a world of pain in her sketchbook, and Danny, the star quarterback, who's hiding a heartbreaking secret of his own. And then there's Chloe. Pretty, perfect, untouchable...she seems to know everything, and captivates Lucia in a whole other way. The more Lucia learns, the more confused she becomes.
