Fifteen year old Maddie Hunter lost her parents when she was five years old due to a house fire. She was saved from sharing the same fate and was placed into an orphanage before she was fostered five years later.
Their love story isn't a great one and soon, the child is left with her foster father who turns out to be a raging alcoholic. He takes his anger our on Maddie for the many years she is with him.
