This was a project I had to do for Short Story creative writing class in college. I wrote this in honor of the thousands of dogs caught in the hellish world that is dog fighting.
I also wrote this in honor of my own pit bull/boxer mix, Rojo, whom we found roaming our neighborhood frightfully skinny and afraid. I hate to think about the life my sweet girl COULD have landed in.
RED is not a true story but for a lot of dogs out there, it is the life they live. I post this in hopes that those who read it will become more aware of the world of dog fighting and become inspired to do more to prevent it. I hope you enjoy RED as much as it breaks your heart.

The experiment.
They used my vulnerability against me. They used that weapon, to make me accept their stupid idea. And I of course, accepted it, I didn't even know what they were going to do. They tugged and poked and even shoved their disgusting finger in your wound, just to see you cry. To see you change. No pitty in their eyes. They just continue. They drag you around with metal chains, hit you and turn you into a experiment. But I had enough of the tugging, the clawing, the moaning, the crying and pleading for them to stop, but simply feeding them with our pain. They turned me into something, that neither do they know what I am. Their afraid of me, of my reflexes, my strength. I killed a lot of them. They say I have a cold heart, that I don't feel nothing. That's why they call me: Death -----------------------------------------************************************--------------------------------------------- Death. A teen girl, pitch black hair, black eyes, white skin. Her height is 5'8. People are scared of her, not just because of her strength but because of they way she kills. She lived in this hell hole, where they take her to rooms. Examine. Fight. She knows she won't be able to entertain them for long. She decides to run. Soul. Brown hair as mud, blue eyes as the sky. Hight 6'2. Tanned and toned body. Death's best friend in the hell hole they're in, he's as cold as she is. But shows a bit of sympathy. Well... More than her at least. He's been there for her, ever since she entered this place of crap. They're the two most feared. As some people say, they're a perfect couple. Killing. Fighting. Cold hearted creatures. I wrote this a long time ago, when I was 14/15, a time when self harm was something that seemed to just be everywhere in my life. I apologise to anyone who read this before I put this notice here, but I'm pretty sure in every chapter there is some sort of mention of mental illness/self harm. I know I could just take the story down, but it was one of the first ever stories I wrote that I liked and completed, and although I admit now it's not great, it shows progress. Except, a new life or death awakening of challenges, arrives for Red, after here path crosses with Beast, since life throws a curve, Red never expected. Hey friends, I wrote this story as a kid and it has many mistakes and cliches as well as rushed parts. If you decide to read it, I hope you enjoy my 10 yr old writing. Thanks for your time! Amelia Kristen is a girl who hides behind a hoodie, she doesn't trust people easily. Even the two boys that she has lived with all her life. She was someone nobody cared for because she was known as a freak. Why has she named the freak? Isn't it obvious? She's Quiet, hidden and nobody knew her well enough, well not that anyone knew of.
