"My children, please don't make me hunt you. Just die."
Forsaken Are We is a story about the rapture, seen though the eyes of a young girl, named Althea Morris. The Creator, as they are properly called, commands the human race to become extinct for the betterment of the Earth and all other creatures, and sends monsters known as Angels down to eradicate the humans left standing.
Throughout this novel, Althea is attempting to survive the onslaught of anger from both the last human stronghold and the Creator's terrors. As the other survivors destroy the Angels, their main goal to kill the Creator, Althea is guided by the last words her mother spoke to her, to keep hope, promising to herself and others that she must speak to the Creator, not kill them.
