The five kings would have been happy to come to an arrangement of easing humankind into the idea they were not alone and slowly building the five citidels. But the humans had lashed out. Drakonians being of a dominant nature retaliated. So now he had to track them down and execute them. However he wasn't planning on being ambushed.

All she wanted to do was care for the animals and go back to the way things used to be. She didn't want the attention of an abusive stalker who ran the camp they had set up. But she couldn't run away, especially not after they bring back a wounded Drakonian and the people who ambushed him... Dead. Dragons are the apex predator. Seems pretty straight forward, but because of their threat, they have to be killed. That's pretty much the way of thinking for Kinsey and her dragon killer squadron, until Kinsey makes a mistake. She and a fellow knight, Aldwin, screwed up and lost one of their dragons and so the king puts them in charge of hunting it down and killing it. Aldwin is a smaller man with a past that no one really knows of. He's always the knight who either messes up or makes a mockery of the squadron. Five co-workers and a guide struggle with a creature, a live relic from the past and from another dimensional plane. The creature is simultaneously lizard and birdlike, while also having anthropoidic characteristics. Once upon a time, this alien race made contact with a lost human Civilization in the region. The two races initially made an alliance, but the greed of some of the humans caused a war to erupt. The discovery and cursory inspection of the cave by one of the characters results in an impromptu, amateur tour. During the journey through the cave one of the co-workers, through a combination of stubbornness, curiosity and willfulness, becomes separated. He stumbles upon a cache of interesting artifacts inside of an oddly inhuman room with alien technology. It is in these confines where he unlocks the being whose last memories of human interaction are still freshly stinging its memory. The group grapples through the tenuous caves trying to escape the creature's vengeful wrath. The ensuing mad flight from the cave to relative safety results in a battle for survival.
