I heard him climb in through my bedroom window. He shut the blinds softly in order not to wake me up. He climbed under the covers, pressing a soft kiss to my necklace.
"I'm sorry, baby" he whispered softy tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, thinking I wouldn't be able to hear. He wrapped his arms around me and buried his face into my neck.
I don't ask where he's been and what he's been up to because I don't want to know. And I know he won't answer. I pretend to be asleep and act as if I haven't been waiting up all night for him to show up. I ask myself how I got to this stage, where I need him so much and crave his touch, his affection. He needs me too, I know it.
