The world has been reduced to a pile of ash by countless terrorists, forcing people to move far underground. However, it is later revealed that the bombs that had been dropped released a chemical called Oldarketite into the air, poisoning all the oxygen on the surface. When the underground cities begin collapsing, both physically and economically, a woman known as M makes a potentially life changing discovery: the new deepest trench in the ocean. If her calculations are correct, just enough oxygen is at the bottom to start a new civilization. She gathers the most well-known scientists in the country-- Quincy Katil, Krystina Fong, Andy Yaroslaski, Benjamin Qiao, Lian Yeung, and a robotic tiger named Itsname-- and takes them on a journey to the bottom of the sea.
