When Jonah is forced to move from Hamilton to Cross Pointe for the second half of his senior year, "miserable" doesn't even begin to cover it. He feels like the doggy-bag from his mother's first marriage and everything else about her new life with a new husband, new home and a new baby is an upgrade. The people at Cross Pointe High School are pretentious and privileged and worst of all is Brighton Waterford, the embodiment of all things superficial and popular. Jonah's girlfriend, Carly, is his last tie to what feels real... until she breaks up with him.

For Brighton, every day is a gauntlet of demands and expectations. Since her father died, she's relied on one coping method: smile big and pretend to be fine. It may have kept her family together, but she has no clue how to handle how she's really feeling. Today is the anniversary of his death and cracks are beginning to show. The last thing she needs is the new kid telling her how much he dislikes her for no reason she can understand. She's determined to change his mind, and when they're stuck together for the night, she finally gets her chance.

Jonah hates her at 3p.m., but how will he feel at 3 a.m.?

One night can change how you see the world. One night can change how you see yourself.

I ask, swinging my feel a little. He shakes his head shyly, his mouth not moving at all. Geez! Why do I want to hear this dude talk so much? "Okay, that's fine. I can give you a nickname." I offer happily. He looks up from his book, raising his eyebrows. I just stare for a moment. He has nice eyes. Pretty brown chocolate orbs. They remind me so much of....... "Teddy." He shakes his head immediately, frowning. "What, why not? You remind me of my old teddy bear. He was a good listener and he didn't talk much..... just like you." I say softly, tilting my head. He continues to shake his head. I fold my arms, leaning back in my seat. "Yeah, it's definitely sticking. Teddy.....It has a nice ring to it, yeah?" He sighs, the first sound I have ever heard him make. "No." . . . *Jordan* Teddy!? Seriously!? She gave me a fucking NICKNAME!? What the hell does this girl want!? I stuff my hands into my pockets, walking down the busy street. Forget about her. She's just a annoying pretty girl, she'll go away. Everybody does. She HAS to go away. *Spoiler alert*: she doesn't. Don't get close to people or they'll end up getting hurt. That's my mindset. I've been through enough of that. This girl doesn't belong in my world anyway. She's too innocent. *Mature content* {Just a quick update, I am basically rewriting the story. "Okay let's talk tomorrow, my desperate arrogant boss must have sent me more work through email and I am in the middle of the street so I have to go," she said while rolling her eyes. She was standing in front of the bridge. She hung up the phone and turned around. The horror was standing alive and well in front of her. Her breath stopped and her very own voice was surrounding her head. "Desperate, arrogant" She felt her head spinning around. He was staring at her expressionlessly. He walked slowly towards her while she walked backward. "Desperate? Arrogant? Am I?" he said in a very deep voice. She felt her voice had gone to hell. She was trying to speak but no sound, just words. "I think you have not seen how desperate I can be" he brought his lips near to her ear and said in a whisper. He grabs her and put her on his shoulder. She felt his shoulder blades pinned hardly on her left rib. Warning: The spelling and grammar are bad but I'll try to edit it once the book is completed. 'Bad Boys Ain't Good But Good Boys Ain't No Fun.' "Don't look, but it's the king of being horny behind you." I automatically looked behind me, making Autumn scoff at me. She shook her head. "Ace Ford." Autumn's face retorted in disgust. "Every girl's 'dream guy'." Her fingers made quotation marks. "Let me just tell you Jane, that boy is disgusting." Ace leaned against the railing of the bleachers. He pushed his dark brown hair back and smirked as he talked to one of the blonde cheerleaders. "How so?" I questioned, turning back towards her. She raised an eyebrow. "Just look at the guy, doesn't he just scream 'I won't have sex with you and immediately ditch you unless you have dubble D's and the IQ of a goldfish?'" "He can't be that bad." I said, causing her to snort. ___________ Warning: Very Mild cursing. That's why I'm making it PG13 guys. Read at own risk.
