Dawson is sour, just like a lemon. Ever since her parents divorce in which she was forced to move away from the town she loved she constantly wears a scowl on her face. The few things that give her pleasure? Her persitant mother who just can't seem to cook breakfast properly, the little Pomeranian named Shelby who sleeps in her bed, and putting other people down. But when her mother is offered a huge buisness opportunity for the line of clothing she had been working on, Dawson is sent to live with her perfect, and oh so falsetto step mother Amanda, and her intelligent, but incredibly annoying father.
High school is done and Dawson couldn't be more happy. That just means one more summer until she decides officialy whats she wants to do with her life. But things change. People change. Could one summer job at a little old diner along a trucking route change everything she has worked to create? From the gossiping waitresses, the friendly old cook, the sweet as sugar owner, and the charming, but very mysterious, dishwasher things are finally looking up. But as Dawson begins to settle into her temporary summer life she can't help but fear her past when she finds out the one person she despises the most lives just down the street.
