To you, life in Hawkins is bleak. The town is boring, the people are mean, and you had no friends. That was all true until you accidentally bump into Will Byers. After introducing you to his friends, you all quickly become aquatinted. Shortly after joining their party, something weird starts to happen. When Will goes missing after admitting that the same unusual and frightening things happened to him, you feel like it is your responsibility to find him.
While looking for Will, you are attacked by a monster and brought to an alternate reality of Hawkins. You quickly realize that you aren't the only one stuck in that parallel prison world. With both you and Will trapped in the Upside Down, you struggle to survive and escape. However, deep down, you suddenly feel a connection to the strange place. You soon come to understand that something much bigger is taking place, and you are the only person who can stop it.
