When best friends Newt and Ana are to compete in the 49th Annual Hunger Games, Newt vows to protect her in the arena. The two of them have made a promise. That they will stick together, no matter what.

But things start to get weird as Newt gets flashbacks in the Capitol, of a life he was supposed to have forgotten...

In the country of Panem, there were thirteen districts ruled by a massive city called the Capitol. When the districts lost a rebellion known as the dark days, District 13 was destroyed by the Capitol. The remaining twelve districts were forced to randomly select a male and female between the age of 12 and 18 to compete in what is now known as the Hunger Games, where tributes fight to the death until only one remains. But is that really the whole story? Or is the Capitol hiding how Panem was really created, and what happened to the rest of the world?

This is an AU fan fiction where the characters from the Maze Runner live in the Hunger Games universe with some slight alterations.

You should probably read or watch The Hunger Games first to understand this as the background of the story is based on the dystopian setting and the books and films explain the setting in a lot more detail.
