Kor's powers grow faster than he can control, the powers aching to reek havock across his land.

Nortaz, his older brother, has been taken to war. Korren is worried for his brother, even though they got in a fight, and asks his new friends to leave the academy to aid him.

A new threat arrives, feeling Korren's powers, seeking to claim him as their own weapon.

Korren's mother, eight and a half months pregnant, has her child. Korren feels her presenss and so dose the darkness.
