She never understood how he could care for her so much. She never understood how he thought she was beautiful. She never understood how the Moon Goddess could let him have a mate like her. He never understood how she couldn't see how perfect she was. *** BOOK ONE. IT SUCKS. ALL OF MY BOOKS DO. I'M A CRINGEY WRITER AND I'M PROUD. *** My bare feet pound into the ground, creating a thump with every step I take. I could feel it : the energy, the anger, the desperation to get me back. His howls echoed the empty night sky and I could hear the way his breath would even out as he sniffed for my scent. His pawns of wolves would crowd around, trying to catch the smell of their next prey- me. Just a little farther, past the boarder. I would finally be free. Free from blood, free from pain, free from him. I'm never going back. I finally spit the boarder, only 5 feet away. "Fleur stop." His command could be heard from miles. I freeze, my fingers twitching to take a few more steps. Wolves pile up on the opposite boarder. "What do you think will happen if you pass those boarders?" He calls out. I stay silent, keeping my eyes trained on the wolves who watch curiously. "They will tear you apart Fleur, they will rip you to pieces. You haven't been outside in 8 years little one, you don't understand the dangers of the world, come back with me." He continue on. I swallow the lump in my throat, finally meeting his dull brown eyes, "I'd rather them tear me apart then to ever go back to you." I spit, taking a leap of faith and I run over the boarder into another packs territory. They all crouch down, ready to pounce with their lips pulled back into snarls. I close my eyes, finally giving up. "Goodbye." Was all I whispered.

I've watched and witnessed the mate bond between numerous wolves throughout the years. Werewolves. We all have a mate. One that is meant to be the other halves of our souls. Mates destined just for each other. When a wolf finds their mate, it should be the most wonderful experience. Love at first sight at its best. I wanted to feel what they felt. I wanted to meet my mate. I wanted to fall irresistibly, undeniably, and eternally in love. That's what mates are supposed to do, but I learned it's not the case for everybody. It wasn't the case for me. ____________________________________________ Camilla is starting a new life in a new pack after the death of her Grandfather, the man that raised her. Her grandfather had taught her the laws of a great werewolf ruler in the making. She learns the hard way that not everybody plays by the rules. Her Alpha mate tosses her away like yesterday's trash, literally. She will need to learn how to stay strong and survive against the werewolves that make up their own rules. What she doesn't realize is that there is something more dangerous lurking in the shadows. Something so ferocious it brings strong reason for being afraid of the dark.
