Naruto is a shy and self conscious person. Not only that, but he's a crossdresser, and likes grow out his hair. He had wanted to be a princess when he was younger.
Sakura is an eccentric person, but it's not irritating. She has a split personality who she calls Kura-chan. She likes to dress in form fitting clothes that throw everyone off guard.
Naruto and Sakura have been best friends since they were six. Before entering the Academy, they put up masks. (Their anime personalities)
Naruto and Sakura both get bells and Sasuke refuses to accept their 'charity', instead being sent back to the Academy. The remaining duo finally drops their masks.
THIS IS NOT A SAKUNARU. I KNOW ITS MISLEADING BUT TRUST ME. NARUTO IS PROBABLY DATING SHIKAMARU AND SAKURA WILL PROBABLY DATE INO.

After a major mission went horribly wrong, the Leaf shinobi were ordered to retreat and abandon those left behind, even if it meant leaving teammates.
