The year is 2034 and Whisper, 14 years of age, is a part of CATA (Chicago Agency Training Academy) that is made to help ‘protect’ the world. In Whisper’s eyes, it isn't ‘protecting’ the world if they kill everyone who attacks them and is a murderer, rapist, kidnapper, ECT. What is shown to the public is clips and pictures of Whisper being ‘cruel’ and ‘heartless’ to the hundreds of criminals she faces each year, so the public thinks she’s a girl with the urge to kill when really she is told to do these kinds of things to help ‘protect’ her country. Whisper is hated by millions it’s really hard for her to survive because she goes through a lot of stress having to train, learn, and find her brother – but the stress coming from her haters who say she’s some ‘heartless murderer’ is extremely hard for her.

“Why do you kill, Whisper?” The reporter asked, the hatred in his voice clear to the ten year old girl.

“I’m told to by CATA. But I might as well be a heartless murderer to the public’s eyes if I have to be.” She spat. Whisper spun on her heels are rushed inside the agency, the tears that fell down her face making her feel weak. She hurried into her stone cold room and sobbed into her cot pillow, wondering to herself:

“Can I ever just be a normal kid?”

WATTPAD BOOKS EDITION There are imperfect moments in every life-but sometimes, there are perfect accidents . . . What's the point of pretending nothing has changed when everything has? It's the last summer before college, and Jonas Avery knows he should be excited. Instead, he hides out at home, avoiding his friends, his family, and everything that resembles his old life. Because nothing will be normal again-because of The Accident, when everything started falling apart. Brennan Davis knows she needs to stand up and face her anxiety-the deep, dark, debilitating dread that rules her everyday life. Because what stops her from going out into the world and just living is going to get a whole lot worse. She's leaving for college in the fall, where she'll be confronted with even more to worry about. To get back up sometimes you have to fall down, hard . . . When Jonas crashes into Brennan-in a harmless, albeit embarrassing fender bender-the two teens connect in ways they never expected. As friends, they help each other overcome their biggest falls and faults, and soon discover that while love can't fix everything, it's sometimes a place to start. Sensitive, wry, and unabashedly authentic, The Opposite of Falling Apart isn't about finding perfection in another person or fixing the things we think are broken. Instead, Micah Good has penned an enchantingly honest novel about accepting the very pieces of ourselves that make us unique, whole, and undeniably human.
