The Keeper of Souls

At first she thinks it's another dream, but as she felt the goosebumps rise on her arms, she realised it wasn't. His ethereal presence passed through the window and he stood in front of her bed with an air of unwavering confidence.

"I am Lucifer. And I will give you back your soul- If you do something for me."

"What do you want?" Belle asked, a cold sweat breaking out on her skin.

"I need a favour," Lucifer said.

Belle Roman. She was never a background kind of person. She liked the spotlight, the attention, the distractions. When she looked back on her high school experience she wished she hadn't spent quite so much time with the senior boys and their bottles of liquid happiness. Or the girls who never wanted the parties to be just a weekend thing.

Maybe if she had studied more, spent more time with her family, maybe been a better sister, then she wouldn't feel so bad at that moment. The moment when she found out that her brother was dying.

Her world starts crumbling from under her when her elder brother, Xavier, is diagnosed with Glioblastoma multiforme, (GBM) - an aggressive brain cancer that grows as a tumour in the brain or in the spinal cord.

The treatment is far too expensive for her poverty stricken family, and determination to save her brother from his premature death drives Belle to strike a deal with a Crossroads demon. It's a hefty price to pay to save her brother but in a blind desperation to cheat death, she sells her soul.
