The Life and Times of St. Francis of Assisi

The first version was a one act play "The La Verna Scene" that was done as part of the Transitus of October  3, 1999 at St. Joseph Auditorium. 

The first full length version with two acts entitle "Francis, Knight from Assisi" was done in 2001 and was performed at Lourdes School Auditorium by our Parish-based Multi-media Community Theater YOUNG ARTISTS FOR CHRIST, CULTURE, ARTS AND ADVOCACY (YAFCA-NSOLL). I got songs from different genres, Disney and Liturgical songs that I found apt to express the emotions and tribulations of the characters. 

This version was done for my Playwriting Class, a class I'm not required to take but I wanted a definitive version of this play. Thus on October 18, 2009, for the 10th Anniversary of YAFCA NSOLL and as part of my playwriting finals as an M.A. Theater Arts student of University of the Philippines, the play was performed at the then Teatro Hermogenes Ylagan at the Faculty Center of UP Diliman.All Rights Reserved

In the age of Mahabharat, at Hastinapur Khatriyo Adhiradh fell in love with Sudro girl Radha. They got married but failed to produce any offspring. Many years later, in Ganga river, they discovered a newly born child with earrings and armor. His face was bright as daylight. They took him and named him Basusen. Later Maharishi Parasuram took him as his disciple but Dronacharya refuted while giving him the name of Karna. He was a great archer and powerful fighter. His dream of life was to defeat Arjuna, the greatest archer of India and the Prince of Hastinapur. At the day of archery competition, he even challenged his rival but refuted by Kulguru Kripacharya for not being a Prince. Arjuna's cousin, Duryodhan, immeditely befriended him and rewarded him the throne of Anga Pradesh (today's Behar). He became Angaraj and became the loyal friend of Duryodhan till his death. He even had to take part in his friend's gulit, agony and wrongdoings unwantedly. But he had a secret in his birth. Did it make him or ultimately break him before the final war of Kurukshetra against Arjuna? Some of avid readers are asking why I did not mention here about his lover Baishali or his third wife Uruvi. Yes I had removed their names as I planned to pen down separate stories on all of them. I had followed Ved Vyas Mahabharata here mostly. I don't want to make this book into a big fat novel. So I write down a whole series on his each wives and off springs, Vrishaketu & Padmaja. Sorry if you find this story not related to my all other stories of Karna Series. This is my second story on my favorite Mahabharata series. He is my childhood crush till today. I dedicate this book only to him. This is my original story and I strongly declare that I did not publish it on any other platform than here. Laksh declares as he puts the wine glass on the table. "My investigators provided me with the information that Ragini is in some orphanage in Dehradun." "Laksh you have a music contract in one week, you can't just leave for Dehradun on a ghost hunt." Sujata pleads. After her death, things changed for the worse for Laksh. He stopped going to work. He became an alcoholic. He even stopped singing which he loved the most. The only thing that he cared about was her. "Watch me. I also need to know why Ragini never showed up to her sister's funeral." Laksh says as he walks out of the room. Tomorrow morning he will head to Dehradun to fulfill his 8th promise. A story of two souls connected through music. Laksh a singer and an accomplished judge on the verge of destroying his own life; all because he blames himself for her death. Ragini a simple girl who is happy with her life. She doesn't ask for much except to live with her music. Will those two individuals come together through their love of music in Hamara Sur.
