You've just woken in the woods, away from everything you know. You're dazed and confused, unable to comprehend what's just happened. From burning books, rewriting history and breaking human rights, this government will stop at nothing to make it seem that they are doing good. But people have had enough, the secret came out before. It's only a matter of time until it happens again. This time by a group of people that no one expected. Together they work to find out the truth, but things have gotten worse over the last century and this may not only bring around the downfall of the government. Armed only the powers they were born with, the group do everything they can to discover the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The Earth's atmosphere is barely breathable in some areas, and society is divided into highly controlled, isolated Zones. These Zones are managed by an all-powerful governing body called The Ascendancy, which uses a combination of surveillance, propaganda, and strict population control to maintain order. Beneath the surface, however, a rebellion is brewing. Youth, especially those born in the years after the Ascendancy's rise to power, have begun questioning the truth about the world they live in, and their place in it. In the midst of this unrest, a group of teenagers discovers an ancient artifact, believed to be a key to unlocking the world's true history and the secrets of the Ascendancy's origins. Slow paced narrative set in a world awakened to panpsychism and innate abilities following the fall and rise of society. A gentle approach to world building with a bit of humor, romanticism, and just enough hints of drama without going into it. Amethyst Jones has a baby sister named Iris Jones. "Amy" takes care of her sister as best she can, just like a mother would, in the household she is forced to live in. The twist? Her father, or the person she is led to believe is her father, seriously abuses her, mentally and physically. On her seventeenth birthday, she gets another twist. She turns into a sedan-sized wolf, and she never knew what she was until that moment. But she has a little problem, too. A pack of werewolves lives nearby and they find out about her existence. They want her to live with them, with their pack of wolves, but she doesn't want to, can't, for many reasons. See the problem? And her goal in life, for almost a year, had been to find an important person, but she isn't even sure if this person is still alive. What will she decide to do with her life? So many decisions, so little time, as the saying goes. Oh... That's wrong? Too bad. That's Amethyst's version. She will consider one person in this ordeal to be her friend. He's helped her from the beginning. And there is one more twist.
