"Fine, I will protect you-" I cut him off.

"Oh my goodness! I thought you were going to say no again cause seriously, I would've kicked you were it hurts more for a guy" I said.

"There's a price though" he finished.

Of course, him being a cruel jerk will have a price.

"What is it!?" I asked annoyed.

He sighed out thinking.

"We won't fall for each other and I will have you safe and sound" he said firmly.

I nodded.

Ranked #22 in Isolation 07/25/2023 "I'm not mate material. You're better off without me." My heart clenched at his words and my wolf whined internally. "I, James, reject you, Grace, as my ma-" I lunged across the counter quickly placing my hand over his mouth. My other hand shot to the table to stabilize myself and I hissed loudly as I dumbly slammed it down on his knife. I could feel it biting into my palm slicing the flesh but I dared not move in fear that he would finish his sentence. "Please don't do that to me." I pleaded as my eyes began to well with unshed tears. He attempted to lean back out of my hold but I only moved with him crawling fully onto the counter hovering above him, one hand still firmly pressed to his mouth. I could feel pleasant tingles surging through my palm and I wondered briefly what it would feel like to be kissed by him. He moved back again and when I tried to move with him this time I successfully slipped off the counter losing my grip on his mouth. His arms reached out pulling me to his form rather than the ground and I clutched onto his top as sparks danced on my skin everywhere we made contact. I couldn't help my instincts as I breathed in his scent feeling my muscles relax and my head go light. "You're an idiot to be begging for someone you don't even know." He looked at my bloody palm that now gripped his grey shirt properly staining it. I released my hold on him trying not to cringe at the pain in my palm but I was never good at hiding my emotions. "Idiot." He stated again staring at me.

His hand goes next to my head and he leans down. I'm still glaring at him but my heart picks up just by the scent of him. "Oh, trust me. I'll make you regret those words. And I can make you scream in both ways." He growled while his hazel eyes bore into my grey ones. "And what's that. Huh?" I said while my hands went to his chest to push him away but his clamped around my wrist and pushed them to the wall. I tried to get them out of his grip but he leaned in making me growl at him.
