I ran into my father's office joy in my eyes "Stella's pregnant!?!" I asked excitedly. I know we weren't suppose to get attached to the animals here, but I couldn't help it- I loved Stella.. she was my Tigger. My smile soon faded once I saw everyone's face. "Cass.." Nate sighed both his hands placed on the table. "What?.. isn't this a miracle?" I asked confused, my father sighed. "Stella's old Cass.. her body won't be able to withstand the birth" he said, my body started to shake slightly. "So? She.. she can make it right?" I asked tears pricking my eyes. My eyes flickered between Nate, my Father, and the rest of the Tigger's care takers. "Cass.. Stella's gonna die" Nate whispered looking at the table. I let out a sob before rushing out the door.
I ran all the way to her cage, not stopping. I opened it up and slid in, I walked to her before falling to my knees. She could tell I was upset, so she crawled over to me and laid her head in my lap. Tears drowned my eyes and cascaded down my cheeks like a water fall. "You're gonna live Stells.. you- you've got too" I whispered sobbing. I heard someone come up behind me, Nate came into my view. He placed his hand on mine sending sparks up my arm. That didn't make me feel better though, "I understand how you feel Cass.. it hurts. I know. You have to be strong for her though.. the weaker you are the weaker she'll become" he whispered to me. He clutched my hand and pulled it up to his face kissing it softly, but I could feel the tears. I turned to him tears caressed his hard face, he was trying to be strong for me.. but we all have our breaking points. He scooted closer and hugged me tight "it's okay.. she'll be in a better place" he mumbled as I cried into his should.
It was selfish, but I didn't want her in a better place.. I wanted her with me.
