Freddie, in his mid-twenties, feels the rough scrape of uncertainty as he jumps from job to job, the sting of a serious breakup still raw in his chest. His sister and his niece, the only warmth in his world, occupy his thoughts like a faint, comforting scent amid the chaos. When word arrives that they're in trouble - an eerie plague creeping through the streets of Happy Bottom - the distant sounds of panic echo in his mind, sharp and unsettling. He can almost taste the bitterness of despair, and he all but thinks the worst. But maybe, amid the heavy air and shadows, that was best.
