I had been content to pretend sleep as Da carried me, but when we got back to the cottage, I was eager to show Mam the shiny pebble a boy had given me after one of the dances. I ran back and forth from the door to the window as I waited. Da laughed at me.
"I suppose you could have just carried me home."
"There she is!" I squealed suddenly, making him jump.
"Wait, Love, she'll listen to you by the fire," he said, but I was already out the door.
	"Mam!"
"Selene run!" Mam screamed as a great dark shadow leapt from the cover of a shadow and lunged for me. Black eyes were all I saw; black as the bottom of a well without whites or irises.

An instant later my life was shattered like glass and I was never able to put it back together, but I didn't know that something was keeping the pieces apart on purpose.

In the Moonlight by TatiaSamaelPetrova
25 parts Complete
A girl in a white veil, the forest calls her to itself. She will be lost in it forever. A quiet voice, a whisper leads his bride far away. Somewhere there stands an old castle, a cursed prince dwells within its walls. When the full moon rises in the night sky, the monster awakens. The white veil of the bride turns crimson. A story as old as time. Nereyeny ran towards the forest as if her life was at stake. She hesitated for a moment before crossing the line of no return. She looked back at the place where she had grown up, lived, and was supposed to die and lie in the ground there forever. All her life layed there, everything except the one thing she longed for the most. Freedom. "Nereyeny!" They were already looking for her. She couldn't afford to hesitate any longer. She turned on her heel and stepped into the darkness. She knew that no one would dare to chase her there. Only a fool. People were afraid of the cursed forest. Eyes watching your every step. Whispers leading you into the void. Creatures from the depths of hell itself. They say dark forces dwell there, no one who goes in will ever come out. And Nereyeny was proof that it was all a lie, spending almost every day there, running under the treetops like a wild wolf. She didn't believe those tales. About the full moon. About the proud prince. About the curse. Until she too became one of those lost in its bowels. Trapped in the same trap as Prince Astreus, son of the Sun and the Moon. A proud prince, real, made of flesh and blood, who is not at all like she has heard of him. At least the fairy tales are wrong about one thing. And maybe they are wrong about everything. Secrets, pride, the whims of the gods, and maybe even fate itself. A burnt-out faith in breaking the curse. Nereyeny must now find a way out before the next full moon comes and the monster finds her.

Fauns dancing around fires. Griffins soaring high. Unicorns galloping across wide fields and centaurs battling giants. These are things Amelia Cromwell sees every day. She doesn't know how they happen or why she sees them but every time she looks through a rain covered window or at a patterned wall, they're there. Does she feel crazy and odd about these sensational images? Absolutely. It feels like something is missing in her life, but what? Now that her father has gone off to war she has to stay at the beautifully empty mansion of Professor Kirke. When four siblings arrive at the mansion, Amelia's life is thrown upside down. With an irritable boy, an emotional little girl and two protective older siblings, life could not have suddenly become more complicated. Throw a mystical land and magical creatures into the mix, and the result is confusion, anger, hope and love. Edmund Pevensie seems ready to grind Amelia into a million pieces, but when she is his only comfort and last hope in a land where nothing is familiar, could love bloom in the depths of his shadowed heart? ****************** "Yes. I'm not ready to die yet. There's still so much I have to do..." "Like what?" He sighed, "I've always wanted to sign up for the army - to help us win the war so that other children don't have to be separated from their parents like we were. I need to see my dad again, make sure he's okay and not dead with a bullet in his chest. I have to... apologize to Peter for being a complete arsehole of a brother. I have to tell Susan that I'm really thankful for her making sure I'm okay, even when I was so rude to her. I have to tell Lucy that despite all the problems we had as brother and sister, I love her... I love all of them... more than they know..." Amelia heard a single sniffle as he tried to wipe away the tears at his eyes by rubbing his head against the fabric on his shoulder. "We'll get out of here, Ed, you'll be able to tell them all. I'll make sure of it."

30 parts Complete Mature

It all started while you were running from some huntsmen. They had noticed you stealing something that was their's before you made a mad dash towards none other than the Dark Castle. Something that you had been warned to say far away from. Though, in your haste to get away from the huntsmen you ignored the warnings. Hopefully the beast inside will give you a chance.
