SoundProofing refers to the reducing or minimizing of sound pressure with respect to the specified sound source and receptor. There are various ways to apply sound proofing and thereby reducing sound. Sound proofing by using noise barriers is one such way, and will absorb or block sound waves with damping structures such as sound baffles. Another way to soundproof is by simply increasing the distance between the source of the noise and the receiver. Soundproofing is effective in two different ways, noise absorption and noise reduction. Noise reduction blocks the path of the sound, while noise absorption works by transforming the sound wave.
There are several different techniques used in the application of soundproofing and some of these can include:

• Damping
• Room within a room
• Noise cancellation o Residential soundproofing
• Noise-barriers as exterior soundproofing
Distance is often used to reduce sound and is very effective for applications such as; reducing noise from industrial processes to residential areas. The application is straightforward in that the residential area is built at a comfortable distance from the industrial site or vice-versa.
Damping can be achieved in several different ways. One such way is to add a layer of soft and heavy material between sound and receiver, and this material can be applied on or into a wall or ceiling to make a very effective sound barrier.All Rights Reserved
