In year XX71, Saorise and Chael Weiss, along with their adopted brother Ryder, had their home and family quite literally torn apart. The strangers dressed in black burst into their home to hunt the children and killed their parents in the process.
The children found themselves without their Mommy or Daddy to comfort them and instead turned to their brother for love and protection. With the shock still lingering in their minds, the lightning that coursed through their body awakened, giving form to their emotions.
Chael was their hero, but even he couldn't control what they felt.
With the responsibility to look after two five-year-olds on his shoulders, fifteen-year-old Chael needed to grow up faster than he wanted. His life was pulled three ways--his obligation to the kids, the continued research on his father's project, and the lingering fear in the back of his mind.
Connecting all of that were the small, robotic cells that inhabited their bodies and gave them their powers. The tiny robots that lived in their bodies brought the attention of the ones clothed in black upon them, which prompted their want for the children in the first place.
For what Chael knew, and what he hid from the kids, was this: the invaders would be back.
"Daddy, please don't turn off the lights. The monsters will find me." Ana pleaded as she pulled the covers up to her nose.
"Don't worry, Ana. There's no such thing as monsters." Frank answered before flexing dramatically, earning a giggle from her, "Besides, if they tried to hurt you, I'd just beat 'em up!"
"Promise?"
"Promise." He kissed her forehead before he tucked her in and turned off the light.
"Goodnight, angel."

The world changed overnight. A mysterious system appeared in everyone's minds announcing the detection of a "Breach."
Monsters unlike anything humanity had ever seen before began to emerge, immediately ending one-third of the world's population.
And that was just in the beginning.
Every father wants to be their daughter's hero. It's an unspoken rule written into every man's DNA. But most fathers aren't pitted up against eight legged abominations.
Frank was just an ordinary man; no training, no experience, just depression and a four year old. Yet, he was all that stood between Ana and certain death.
If that's the way it was, then he couldn't back down. He made a promise, and he would keep it or die trying.
Luckily, the world wasn't entirely merciless. This "System" granted humanity a fighting chance: otherworldly gifts and powers that defied the laws of nature.
While Frank's gift wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, it did give him power.
Power enough to hopefully keep his daughter safe, and punish the monsters that dared threaten her in the first place!
