It's 2134 and the world is at war - split into two sides. Hope was evacuated when she was eight, she's eighteen now and when she finds out her Mum's dying she knows she must go back, but when crossing dangerous land she is captured as a hostage, by the other side in the war, and she realizes the only she'll get to her mother in time is to befriend the boy there her age, but in doing so she finds some things out about the side she's on that could sway her views and change everything she thinks knows, and somehow she may have actually be beginning to like the boy she's "fake" befriended, and suddenly the lines between real and pretend, and good and bad become dangerously blurred, as she realizes she has no idea whose side she's on.
