When 15 year old Skyler-Cherokee and her dad move to Rosswood, Skyler thinks a new school will be hell. Plus, her dad will be the music teacher there. Sucks, right? On her first day, she meets Dakota Manson, a brown haired, blue eyed, quiet boy. He's only got one true friend; Jace, a guy his age. He keeps to himself mostly, an never touches anyone. After befriending the mysterious boy, Skyler and Dakota slowly start to figure out eachothers pasts. Everyone at school thinks he's the bad boy; the emo kid who always gets into fights, drinks, smokes, and has tattoos (and only half of those are right). Dakota and Skyler can't deny the tingling feeling they get when they're around eachother. But does Dakota want to risk getting Skyler involved in his wretched past?
