The Shadow of the Gods is a story set in a Europe in the far distant future, where people calling themselves gods have ruled since time immemorial. In a sleepy village far from the splendour of Olympus, a teenage boy named Alexias Makris wakes up one morning, prepared for another day of hard labour in the fields, not knowing that this day would change not just the course of his destiny, but of the destinies of everyone inhabiting Alexias' broken world. Whisked away from his home to magnificent Olympus, home of the gods, Alexias becomes a servant, but there he is swept away into a word of political machinations and total upheaval in the world of the gods. Zeus, an anchor of stability and the implacable leader of the gods has disappeared. With every god clambering over one another to get the top chair, the people are ignored, and, for the first time since the distant past, the gods' power is threatened, For when Kings clash, all of the land feels the tremours.

Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Beauty is forced into an unwanted marriage the very evening she emerges from the sea. While Hephaestus is not terrible to her, she can't help but be enticed by his forbidden brother, Ares, and the other Gods who send her longing glances. Will she settle for Hephaestus or will she search for more for her own love story? *This story follows along some of Aphrodite's romances while married to Hephaestus. This story will not be a perfect timeline but will however, follow along a rough timeline according to my other book, Hades and Persephone.* *Also, Aphrodite has her faults. A fair amount of faults in fact! If you know her mythology she turns out to be a very vengeful, self-centred, and self-involved Goddess, but this story is all about her slowly progressing throughout her marriage to Hephaestus. A sequel will follow beyond once this marriage ends.* *This story is also not meant to be factually accurate, and is simply an interpretation of the story.
