Beyond the abandoned Candid City and its surrounding plains and wild forests lay massive, snowy mountains named Lupus Mountains. Within the mountains, a small town by the name of Canis resides. Like the city, the disease has spread through the village leaving the residents dead except for some - the dogs.

Forrest, a Labrador Retriever mix, was a Sled Dog whose owner abandoned him. He hasn't relied on humans for a long time, and he's not sure he cares much about them leaving. But when wolves and other animals arrive to the town for food, Forrest is certain that he needs help from other dogs.

Once Forrest finally gathers up a group of abandoned dogs, he becomes determined to help them survive. Forrest begins to receive strange prophecies from the Canine Superiors, yet he has no clue what they mean. After a group of cougars and strange humans attack the already weak group, he begins to realize that they'll need more than just luck to survive the rough and dangerous terrain. Plus, a blizzard and a battle are on their way...

After picking up a pair of siblings, the three come across a strange woman who claims to have a map to Arcadia, an urban legend rumored to be the only city thriving in the wreckage of the old world.
