Torie Holmes is has been living in the park for over a year. A runaway from foster care and a fugitive from the law, she has nothing and no one to her name. That is, until a stranger shows her a kindness she didn't think existed anymore.

Meeting Oliver Parrish will eventually set Torie on a path she never dreamed of following. Unfortunately, it is only his death that opens the door to a world of possibilities for her: a new home, a new family, a new life.

The decision to trust in the word of a stranger will be a hard one to make. Still, Oliver has already put work into bringing down the protective walls Torie put up to keep others out. The question remains: will Torie give her dreams of a better life one last try, or will she let her jaded disposition of the world get the better of her?
