Cloning is now a legal and regular practice globally. Poor people give their children to be cloned then get them returned. The clones are then raised to fight in war, and nothing more. They stay in camps, with little to no privacy. Dan and Phil are clones. They meet, fall in love, and are together through it all. Up until World War Three begins and clones are beginning to be drafted yet again. Phil gets drafted almost immediately, much to Dan's dismay. He vows to get him back, no matter how much blood he needs to spill in the process.

I removed my lips from hers as quick as I could, but the damage had already been done. I look at Dan and I look in his eyes and I see all the hurt that was already present in his heart.
